Why no Writing or Speaking calculator?
These skills are scored by an examiner using four criteria, not by counting correct answers. To find your real Speaking band, practise with a tutor in a mock speaking test.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the IELTS overall band calculated?
Add your four skill bands (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking), divide by four and round to the nearest half band. An average ending in .25 rounds up to the next half band, and .75 rounds up to the next whole band.
How many correct answers do I need for Band 7 in Listening?
Usually about 30 out of 40.
Why are Academic and General Training Reading scored differently?
General Training texts are generally easier, so you need more correct answers for the same band.
Are these conversions official?
They are based on commonly published conversion tables. The exact numbers can vary slightly between test versions, so treat the result as an estimate.
